Peace Through Music

Today the world is celebrating the United Nations International Day of Peace.

"I call on all warring parties to lay down their weapons and observe a global ceasefire. To them I say: stop the killings and the destruction, and create space for lasting peace." ~ UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Music and Peace have a long history. Music has been an instrument for Peace through prayerful songs and devotional chanting, to traditional lullabies sung to children to help them peacefully fall asleep.

I am a proponent of “Peace Through Culture” first coined by visionary Nicholas Roerich. It is our diverse cultural expressions that connect us to a greater global expression, showing us the commonality of humanity through music.

This is what is so profound about the expression of music. It is a universal language that breaks down barriers and tradition and opens the doorway to the soul. This is a doorway where we can feel and experience true Peace.

The more we are able to unite into this space of Peace through Music, the more we are allowing our own “borders" to dissolve and a new greater expression of true Peace emerges.

In honor of this Peace Day, I have included a video below of my song “Sipapu” which loosely translates to the “Path of the Heart”. Take a moment to drop into this music and feel the space of your Heart open and align with today’s global focus of Peace.

This video was taken from the 7/31 Full Moon Live Stream Concert. I am thrilled to be dropping into another global webcast concert this Sunday September 27th @ 7pm Pacific.

Will you join with us? Let me know in the comments!
